App maintenance and support

App maintenance and support for live apps

Our app maintenance and support keeps live apps working: updates for new iOS, Android and TV versions, bug fixes, monitoring and store compliance. We look after apps we built and apps built by others, for iPhone, Android, TV and the web.

What we do

Keeping your app working.

Apps stop working if nobody looks after them. Operating systems change, stores update their rules and libraries go out of date.

OS and device updates

Testing and updates for each new version of iOS, Android, tvOS and TV platforms, and for new screen sizes.

Tech used: Swift, Kotlin, BrightScript, TypeScript

Bug fixes

Problems reported by users or found in crash reports, fixed and released in a planned way.

Tech used: Crash reporting, TestFlight, Play testing tracks

Store compliance

Changes needed for new App Store and Google Play rules, privacy details and target API levels, so the app stays listed.

Tech used: App Store Connect, Google Play Console

Monitoring and security

Uptime, errors and dependencies watched, with security updates applied to apps and backends.

Tech used: Python and Django, PostgreSQL, Next.js

New features

Improvements and new features planned with you and released when they are ready.

Tech used: Swift and SwiftUI, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, React

Taking over an app

Apps built by another developer or agency, reviewed, documented and brought up to date.

Tech used: Code review, written handover notes

Getting it right

What good app maintenance needs.

Maintenance works best when it is planned, not left until something breaks. These are the things we put in place.

Know the app

Documentation of how the app, backend and accounts fit together, so anyone can pick it up.

Watch for problems

Crash reports, uptime and error alerts, so issues are found before most users notice.

Plan for OS releases

New iOS, Android and TV versions tested in their beta period, not after they ship.

Release safely

Test builds, staged roll-outs and a way back if a release goes wrong.

Keep it secure

Libraries, servers and dependencies kept up to date, with security fixes applied promptly.

Proof

Built by the team behind Ohm.

We run Ohm ourselves across TVs, phones, tablets, computers and the web: its updates, store releases, backend and support. Every new OS version and store rule change lands on our desk too, and your app gets the same care and the same lessons.

Ohm

A premium IPTV player for the playlists you already have. Ohm plays your own sources; it never supplies channels.

Process

How app maintenance runs.

  1. 01

    Review

A look at the code, backend, store listings and accounts, with risks written down.

    Agree

What we look after, how quickly we respond and the cost, agreed in a written proposal.
  3. 03

    Stabilise

Urgent fixes and updates first, so the app is in good shape.
  4. 04

    Monitor

Crash reports, uptime and store notices watched, with regular updates.
  5. 05

How much does app maintenance cost?

It depends on the platforms, the size of the app and backend, and how quickly you need us to respond. After a short review call we send a written proposal with the scope set out, so you know the cost before work starts.

Can you take over an app built by someone else?

Yes. We start with a code review to understand the app and its risks, then agree a plan to fix, update or extend it, and look after it from there.

What do you need to take over an app?

Access to the source code, the app store and developer accounts, the backend and hosting, and any services the app uses. If some of that is missing, we help you recover it where possible.

Why does an app need updates if nothing is broken?

Apple, Google and TV makers release new system versions and change store rules regularly. Without updates, apps can stop working properly or be removed from the stores.

Do you support TV and web apps too?

Yes. We look after iPhone, Android, TV and web apps, and the backends behind them.

Can you add new features as well as fixes?

Yes. We plan new features with you and release them alongside regular updates and fixes.

Do I own the code and designs?

Yes. Once the project is paid in full, you own the code, designs and everything we built for you. We hand over the repositories, store accounts and documentation.
